Five Fine Violins: Of the five Radio sessions represented on this release, four of them contain Stuff Smith teaming up with fellow violinists Ray Nance and Danes Svend Asmussen, Søren Christensen and Poul Olsen, three of these have never been released before. On April 4, 1965 Stuff Smith participated in a radio jubilee concert. Only recently has a mislabeled, long thought lost tape been recovered from the Timme Rosenkrantz archive. The astute listener will question the absence of drummer Alex Riel. There was confusion about the start time of Smith’s set following an interval and Riel failed to appear. Thus, we have a rare glimpse of a late Smith trio with just piano and bass. Riel, as good a drummer as he is, is really not missed. And that’s Stuff tapping on the violin ?. In an act of generosity, Smith introduces "Timme’s Blues" as written by his friend and manager Timme Rosenkrantz. It was, of course, written by Stuff Smith and it had a previous life in the USA under the title "Play"

Cinco buenos violines: De las cinco sesiones de radio representadas en este lanzamiento, cuatro de ellas contienen a Stuff Smith formando equipo con sus compañeros violinistas Ray Nance y los daneses Svend Asmussen, Søren Christensen y Poul Olsen, tres de ellas nunca antes publicadas. El 4 de abril de 1965 Stuff Smith participó en un concierto jubilar por radio. Sólo recientemente se ha recuperado del archivo de Timme Rosenkrantz una cinta mal etiquetada y que se creía perdida. El oyente astuto se preguntará por la ausencia del baterista Alex Riel. Hubo una confusión sobre la hora de inicio del set de Smith tras un intervalo y Riel no apareció. Así pues, tenemos una rara visión de un trío de Smith de última hora con sólo piano y bajo. No se echa de menos a Riel, por muy buen baterista que sea. Y eso que Stuff toca el violín... En un acto de generosidad, Smith presenta "Timme's Blues", escrita por su amigo y representante Timme Rosenkrantz. Por supuesto, fue escrito por Stuff Smith y tuvo una vida anterior en Estados Unidos bajo el título de "Play"
