Niacin • Organik
Niacin is a neo-fusion instrumental trio featuring bassist Billy
Sheehan, drummer Dennis Chambers, and keyboardist John Novello. Founded
in 1996, the band's name comes from the timbral foundation of the
Hammond B3 organ; vitamin B3 is also known as niacin.
While the members pursue solo and sideman projects, they have continued to record and tour as a unit.

Novello • B3 Soul
John
Novello’s music takes you to a soulful world where Jazz, R&B, and
pop meet at the corner of Taste and Vibe. Having just two years ago
given us his classic set “Ivory Soul” he now returns with a compelling
new album “Good To Go” filled with the kinds of dazzling songs and
improvisational keyboard wizardry that has made Novello a favorite in
contemporary smooth jazz.

After moving to L.A. John played with Taste Of Honey which then had a #1 song, “Boogie Oogie, Oogie”! That led to many other gigs with esteemed soul, pop, and jazz artists like Donna Summer, Manhattan Transfer, Ramsey Lewis, Edgar Winter, Ritchie Cole, to name but a few. Soon after, developing a following of this own, Novello gave fusion fans a body of work to remember with his group Niacin, a trio that has remained a defining figure in progressive jazz rock. Originally on Chick Corea’s Stretch label, Niacin’s influence on modern musicianship can be compared to the shock wave created by Herbie Hancock’s sonic surrealism. Then a few years ago in a show of remarkable diversity, Novello released his critically acclaimed B3 Soul album with the eponymous single featuring John’s soulful smooth and funky B3 organ style that demonstrates his devotion to the art of the groove combined with unforgettable melody.

After leaving his keyboard signature imprint over the years on numerous transcendent recordings and shows, the man, the music and the groove came full circle at his peak on acoustic piano with his hit album “Ivory Soul”. From this came 3 singles, “Crush”, ‘I Can’t Stop My Heart” and “Shuffle the Deck” taking the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Top 10 by storm. Working with legendary stalwarts Gerald Albright, Eric Marienthal and Tom Scott, Novello brought his hybrid old-school jazz and a soulful pop R&B into the spotlight with stellar reviews and huge public reception.
