Charles Lloyd • Discovery

Review from AllMusic (by Scott Yanow):
This superior set by tenor saxophonist Charles Lloyd was recorded two years before Lloyd's quartet achieved great popular success. Lloyd's Coltrane-inspired sound was already in place and although pianist Gabor Szabo would be succeeded by Keith Jarrett, the overall sound of the ensemble would remain unchanged. Lloyd's passionate yet melodic approach is heard at its best on the famous "Forest Flower," but all of the music is quite worthwhile and highly recommended.
