Herbie Mann's second in a long string of albums for Atlantic resulted in
some slightly commercial but mostly enjoyable music. Two songs match
the flutist with three strings and a Latin rhythm section, while three
co-star vibraphonist Dave Pike with an expanded rhythm section; the
remaining two tunes add four trumpets to the group. Best are renditions
of "Moanin'" and Charlie Parker's "Au Privave," while "The Song of
Delilah" is given a haunting treatment. Some of the other performances
are more lightweight (including a truncated "Why Don't You Do Right"),
making this out of print LP a bit of a mixed bag.
