Cecil Alexander • Introducing

“Introducing Cecil Alexander” is Alexander’s debut album as a bandleader, and features Will Gorman on organ and Steven Crammer on drums. The new release is full of covers that have inspired Alexander over the years. Coltrane’s “Central Park West” is a song Alexander remembers being moved by at a very early age, long before he understood it harmonically. “Til Then” is a 60s post-bop Bobby Hutcherson tune that Alexander has covered so many times in so many different bands, that he felt that the universe was telling him to release it. There’s a version of Donny Hathaway’s “Someday We’ll All Be Free”, a soul classic who’s eminently hopeful lyric reflects something of Alexander’s own spirit as a kind and openhearted person that lifts up and celebrates the people he loves through his music.

"Introducing Cecil Alexander" es el álbum debut de Alexander como líder de banda, y presenta a Will Gorman al órgano y Steven Crammer a la batería. El nuevo lanzamiento está lleno de portadas que han inspirado a Alexander a lo largo de los años. "Central Park West" de Coltrane es una canción que Alexander recuerda que le conmovió a una edad muy temprana, mucho antes de que la entendiera armónicamente. "Til Then" es una melodía post-bop de Bobby Hutcherson de los años 60 que Alexander ha versionado tantas veces en tantas bandas diferentes, que sintió que el universo le decía que la lanzara. Hay una versión de "Someday We'll All Be Free" de Donny Hathaway, un clásico del soul cuya letra eminentemente esperanzadora refleja algo del espíritu del propio Alexander como una persona amable y de corazón abierto que eleva y celebra a las personas que ama a través de su música.
