Jay Vonada attended Mansfield University in the fall of 1993, studying jazz improvisation with Dr. Michael Galloway for one year and jazz arranging for one semester. He was lead trombonist and featured soloist with the Mansfield University Jazz Band for four years, where they performed at the PMEA, MENC, and placed third at the Villanova Jazz Festival in 1994. Jay played with jazz saxophonist Bob Mintzer at the Mansfield University Jazz Festival, and also performed with Mansfield alumni Neil Slater, who was the director of the One O'clock Lab Band at the University of North Texas. In 1999, Jay won a scholarship to study at the Berklee College of Music. Currently he plays in a quartet of trombone, guitar, bass and drums, performing at the Central Pennsylvania Festival of The Arts, Lewisburg Live and many other venues. He also plays in a big band, Zeropoint, playing jazz trombone. He has smaller groups, a jazz trio of trombone, organ, drums, and a duo of trombone and guitar, or trombone and keyboard called swing-nova. Jay has also had the privilege of playing with vocalist Catherine Dupuis, pianist Russ Kassoff, bassists Martin Wind, Jay Anderson, David Finck and Jay Leonhart, and drummers Tim Horner and Dennis Mackrel at the Jazz PA Festival from 2005-2010. In 2013 Organ Trio East was a featured performer at the Lebanon Jazz Festival in September. Steve Adams grew up outside of Philadelphia, absorbing the musical influences of the city. He moved up to the mountains of central Pennsylvania, but the city followed him. Starting on accordion, he took lessons with John Grande, accordion/piano player for Bill Haley's Comets. Accordion did not fit well with the music of the mid-60's (Beatles, Stones, etc.), so Steve moved on to guitar, organ and piano. Formal training came later, when he studied counterpoint and classical piano at Temple University and improvisation, arranging and composition with Dennis Sandole. In 2009, Steve attended Dave Liebman's master class on Chromaticism in Melody and Harmony at East Stroudsburg University. He currently studies Alexander technique with Kay Hooper. Steve has performed with Dave Liebman, Jim Pugh, Virginia Mayhew, Gary Thomas, Herb Robertson, Eddie Severn, Josh Davis, Nelson Hill and Paul Smoker. Steve performs with a number of bands in the central Susquehanna area, including Jazzin', The Hammond Brothers, Bop Top, the Ann Kerstetter Band, the Williamsport City Jazz Orchestra, the Clickard Consortium little-big band, Zeropoint big band and the Dave Stahl big band. Jim Schade moved to the upper Susquehanna Valley in 2011 after having been on the Philadelphia jazz scene for 15 years. A graduate of the jazz studies program at Shenandoah University, Winchester, VA, Jim has an extensive discography as well as local radio and television appearances. In his twenty years of private teaching, Jim has had over 200 students. He is currently the drum line instructor for the Mifflinburg High School Marching Band. He and his wife, The Rev. Leah Schade, have two children, Rachel and Benjamin. Organ Trio East was born in 2012 but got cookin' in 2013. The band is featured in restaurants, breweries, bars and wineries in and around the central region of Pennsylvania. They were the opening act for the 2013 Lebanon Jazz Festival.
