Robbie King • Tex Me Blues

 

Born in Jamaica, Robbie moved to England in 1962 and recorded his first single in 1963, entitled ‘Jonah’ at Tin Pan Alley studio on Denmark Street.

Between 1980-2008 Robbie ‘King’ Robinson recorded six albums. Three reggae albums ‘Serious Situation’, ‘Light Up Your Fire’ & ‘Sloop John B.’

Two Jazz albums ‘Jazz in colour’ & ‘Tex me blues’ and one soul album ‘Got to get you.’ Never having worldwide major success Robbie did tour Europe & made a steady living from music for a good few years with his music still being played on radio around the world today.

In the late 2000’s Robbie decided to retire from music mainly due to ill health & old age. He found it hard to play the organ like he used to due to arthritis.

Robbie died to a heart attack on July 7th 2014.

Nacido en Jamaica, Robbie se mudó a Inglaterra en 1962 y grabó su primer sencillo en 1963, titulado 'Jonah' en Tin Pan Alley Studio en Denmark Street.

Entre 1980 y 2008 Robbie 'King' Robinson grabó seis álbumes. Tres álbumes de reggae 'Serious Situation',' Light Up Your Fire ' y 'Sloop John B.'

Dos álbumes de jazz 'Jazz in colour' y 'Tex me blues' y un álbum de soul ' Got to get you.'Robbie, que nunca tuvo un gran éxito mundial, realizó una gira por Europa y se ganó la vida con la música durante unos buenos años, y su música todavía se reproduce en la radio de todo el mundo en la actualidad.

A finales de la década de 2000, Robbie decidió retirarse de la música principalmente debido a problemas de salud y vejez. Le resultaba difícil tocar el órgano como solía hacerlo debido a la artritis.

Robbie murió de un ataque al corazón el 7 de julio de 2014.
