This is a crisp modern recording of, mostly, jazz standards recorded in a 'live' situation in the marvellous Goldtop Studios, London - the old fashioned way, that is with no tricks or overdubbing. Half of these tunes are very well known, the others less familiar, all approached with gusto! The arrangements are intelligent and well thought out, the playing throughout is superb by four guys who are obvious masters of their craft.

Al Nicholls is the product of a sound musical training, both academically through Leeds College of Music and practically via the bands of Ray Gelato, The Big Town Playboys, King Pleasure and many others bigger and smaller.
Al is also the leader and musical driving force of London's renowned jump jive and good time swing band Blue Harlem.
Al also plays regularly with the band of TJ Johnson and with fellow tenor saxophonist Jo Fooks.

Esta es una grabación moderna y nítida de, en su mayoría, estándares de jazz grabados en una situación "en vivo" en los maravillosos Goldtop Studios de Londres, a la antigua usanza, es decir, sin trucos ni overdubbing.
