Roy Meriwether Trio • The Stone Truth

 



Roy Meriwether is a jazz pianist born February 24, 1943in Dayton, Ohio. He first played in his father's church, accompanying the family choir. In the 1960s, he directed a trio and signed with Columbia in 1965. He continued to perform as a trio while also participating in recordings with saxophonist Joe Lewis (1987) and flutist Chip Shelton (2000).
Highly influenced by Gospel, loving to play the blues, Roy Meriwether has a style close to those of Gene Harris and Ramsey Lewis.

Roy Meriwether es un pianista de jazz nacido el 24 de febrero de 1943 en Dayton, Ohio. Tocó por primera vez en la iglesia de su padre, acompañando al coro familiar. En la década de 1960, dirigió un trío y firmó con Columbia en 1965. Continuó actuando como trío mientras también participaba en grabaciones con el saxofonista Joe Lewis (1987) y el flautista Chip Shelton (2000).
