Charlie Parker • In Sweden 1950

The 14 tunes were recorded on the 20th & 22nd of November, 1950, in Hälsingborg and Malmö, Sweden, and besides some standard melodies, includes several Parker original be-bop classics.

The music here represents all that was recorded with Charlie Parker on this visit to Sweden, which was his second – and last – trip to Europe. In spite of the less-than-perfect sound quality, these private recordings catch Charlie Parker – the greatest modern jazz musician of all time – at the peak of his powers: he was obviously in a good mood, playing clear, singing lines and in total control of the saxophone.

These recordings are comprised of two concerts, plus a jam session, and all the time Parker is accompanied by basically the same competent Swedish rhythm section, led by the famous trumpeter Rolf Ericson.

Las 14 melodías fueron grabadas el 20 y 22 de noviembre de 1950 en Hälsingborg y Malmö, Suecia, y además de algunas melodías estándar, incluye varios clásicos del be-bop original de Parker.

La música aquí representa todo lo que se grabó con Charlie Parker en esta visita a Suecia, que fue su segundo -y último- viaje a Europa. A pesar de la calidad de sonido poco perfecta, estas grabaciones privadas atrapan a Charlie Parker - el más grande músico de jazz moderno de todos los tiempos - en la cumbre de sus poderes: obviamente estaba de buen humor, tocando con claridad, líneas de canto y con un control total del saxofón.
