Hank Jones's career spanned for over a period of eight decades,in which the veteran jazz pianist worked with virtually every jazz great from Coleman Hawkins to Ella Fitzgerald.Jones also worked as sideman with Charlie Parker,Wes Montgomery,Cannonball Adderley,and Miles Davis just to name a few.From 1948-1953 Jones worked as Ella Fitzgerald's accompanist,and also worked as the 'staff' pianist for CBS from 1959-1975.He also formed "The Great Jazz Trio" with Tony Williams in the late 70's.
His early influences were Fats Waller,Earl 'Fatha' Hines,Teddy Wilson,and his idol Art Tatum.Jones presents us with a refreshing lean on a set of old standards.
