One of the best 80s recordings from French saxophone legend Guy Lafitte -- a set that's equally great for the presence of organist Wild Bill Davis -- who's also at his best on the album! The tunes have a really timeless quality -- lots of long, lean tenor solos from Lafitte -- done with that raspy style that made him one of the most soulful players on the French scene in the postwar years -- a great balance to the gentler waves of sound that flow effortlessly from Davis' Hammond, with just some light accompaniment on drums from Clyde Lucas. As with a classic Prestige Records session of this nature, most of the tunes are familiar, but handled with a very special, personal vibe -- on tracks that include "Lotus Blossom", "Stuffy", "Come Sunday", "A Child Is Born", "Samba De Orfeo", "Nature Boy", and "Colline".
