Joe Beck • Get Me

Review from All About Jazz (by Jack Bowers): Recorded live at Anna's Jazz Island in Berkeley in 2006, Get Me Joe Beck was Joe Beck's final recording. Bowers emphasizes Beck's ability to make the guitar sing through carefully shaped chords, single-note lines and subtle improvisation. The trio with Peter Barshay on bass and David Rokeach on drums had never played together before these sessions, yet their interaction is consistently responsive and musical. The program combines familiar standards with Brazilian repertoire, while Beck's brief spoken introductions add humor and personality to the performance.
