Weather Report's fourth album finds Wayne Shorter taking a somewhat less prominent role as Joe Zawinul increasingly dominates the group's sound. Alphonso Johnson and drummer Ishmael Wilburn appear on most selections, although the personnel varies from track to track. "Nubian Sundance" features several vocalists, while "Blackthorn Rose" is a duet between Shorter and Zawinul. Overall, Yanow describes the album as stimulating and adventurous, and as high-quality fusion from 1974.
