John Coltrane • Newport '63

 

 

Newport '63 is the compilation of three songs recorded in wonderful versions at the Newport Jazz Festival in 1963: I Want to Talk About You, My Favorite Things and Impressions, which have the particularity that drummer Roy Haynes replaces the usual quartet member Elvin Jones; plus the addition of Chasin' Another Trane, taken from the legendary sessions at the Village Vanguard in 1961, the only piece in which the aforementioned drummer plays.

Newport '63 es la compilación de tres temas grabados en maravillosas versiones en el Festival de Jazz de Newport, en 1963: I Want to Talk About You, My Favorite Things e Impressions, que tienen como particularidad el hecho de que el baterista Roy Haynes reemplaza al usual miembro del cuarteto Elvin Jones; más el agregado de Chasin' Another Trane, extraida de las legendarias sesiones en el Village Vanguard de 1961, única pieza en la que toca el mencionado baterista.
