The Ralf Ruh Trio, originally founded in 1992 under the name “Jazz ahead”, re-established itself in Berlin in 2001 under its current name. It has since established itself as one of the outstanding jazz trios in and far beyond the capital, dedicated to playing jazz on the highest level. In 2014 the trio was nominated for the Swiss Jazz Award.
„Standards & More“ is the second CD release of the Ralf Ruh Trio. But just like with „A Personal Suite“ (released in 2010 by Octason Records), this recording, too, reflects very personal and autobiographical moments of the band leader’s life. All of the songs chosen for this recording have a special meaning to Ralf Ruh, such as Green Dolphin Street which was one of the first jazz standards the young musician fell in love with, or Fly me to the Moon, whose arrangement came into being in an attempt to silence his guilty conscience after skipping a class at the university. Keep hot is the reference to a fellow piano student. The song Little Waltz Ralf wrote with one of his own and favourite students in mind, while Blockchords please embodies an homage to his long term friend and former teacher Joe Haider. Several other songs on the new recording found their home on the CD because they are simply great fun to play, such as Take the A Train, or Just for Fun and Shiny Stockings, the latter a must for Ralf Ruh in any Big Band concert. Finally, Lush Life features the fabulous Lars Gühlcke on bass and A Ballad for U was inspired by the band leaders favourite Swiss actress.
All of the songs on this new recording are masterfully arranged and bear witness to the amazing intrumental skills and overall musicality of all three musicians. Breathing new life into well known standards is a challange not every Jazz musician masters with such grace, depth and ease as the Ralf Ruh Trio does on this new recording.

El Trío Ralf Ruh, fundado originalmente en 1992 con el nombre de "Jazz ahead", se reestableció en Berlín en 2001 con su nombre actual. Desde entonces se ha establecido como uno de los tríos de jazz más destacados de la capital y fuera de ella, dedicado a tocar jazz al más alto nivel. En 2014 el trío fue nominado para el Premio de Jazz de Suiza.
"Standards & More" es el segundo CD del Ralf Ruh Trio. Pero al igual que con "A Personal Suite" (lanzado en 2010 por Octason Records), esta grabación también refleja momentos muy personales y autobiográficos de la vida del líder de la banda. Todas las canciones elegidas para esta grabación tienen un significado especial para Ralf Ruh, como Green Dolphin Street, que fue uno de los primeros estándares de jazz del que se enamoró el joven músico, o Fly me to the Moon, cuyo arreglo surgió en un intento de silenciar su conciencia culpable tras saltarse una clase en la universidad. Keep hot es la referencia a un compañero estudiante de piano. La canción Little Waltz Ralf la escribió pensando en uno de sus estudiantes favoritos, mientras que Blockchords, por favor, encarna un homenaje a su viejo amigo y antiguo profesor Joe Haider.
