Two of James Moody's better albums from the 1950's are reissued in full on this single Chess CD: Last Train From Overbrook and Flute 'N The Blues. The former session features Moody (on tenor, alto and flute) backed by ten horns and a four-piece rhythm section on a variety of strong straightahead material (including the title cut, "What's New," "Tico-Tico" and "The Moody One") while the latter is a septet outing that also has solos by trumpeter Johnny Coles, trombonist William Shepherd and baritonist Pee Wee Moore along with three memorable vocals from Eddie Jefferson. Recommended.

Dos de los mejores álbumes de James Moody de los años 50 se reeditan íntegramente en este único CD de Chess: Last Train From Overbrook y Flute 'N The Blues. La primera sesión presenta a Moody (en tenor, contralto y flauta) respaldado por diez vientos y una sección rítmica de cuatro piezas en una variedad de fuerte material directo (incluyendo el corte del título, "What's New", "Tico-Tico" y "The Moody One") mientras que el segundo es una salida del septeto que también tiene solos del trompetista Johnny Coles, el trombonista William Shepherd y el baritonista Pee Wee Moore junto con tres memorables voces de Eddie Jefferson.
