First recorded at his house in Stovall, Mississippi, in 1941 as part of a Library of Congress field project to record authentic country blues artists, Muddy Waters was inspired by the experience to move to Chicago and work as a professional musician. This biography chronicles the life and music of the bluesman who went electric in the late 1940s and inspired a generation of rock and blues bands who changed the shape of popular music.
