The Hamburg-based Tingvall Trio have longevity on their side. They've been around since 2003, toured in some 30 countries and have collected five German jazz awards. They are popular tourists with a fanbase across Europe but are yet to crack the UK and US markets. While in the past their music might be said to have had plenty of surface gloss with accessible melodic hooks and a love of working towards heroic, hammering climaxes, they have always appeared to be a group with great potential, yet without quite realising it – a case in point their 2013 album In Concert that revealed moments of profundity often undone by lighter, more easily accessible offerings. Clearly it's a balance that has found favour with their fans, but a feeling has persisted with some that if their urge to please their audiences was held in check, greater emotional gravitas might be realised. They are a group that certainly make friends for jazz, breaking down barriers to audiences beyond the music, and Cirklar will certainly do that – a dozen well-crafted originals – but pieces like ‘Vulkanen’, the title track and ‘Sjuan’ suggest a greater depth to their performances is within their grasp.https://www.jazzwise.com/reviews/tingvall-trio-cirklar

El trío Tingvall, con sede en Hamburgo, tiene la longevidad de su lado. Existen desde 2003, han realizado giras en unos 30 países y han recibido cinco premios alemanes de jazz. Son turistas populares con una base de fanáticos en toda Europa, pero aún no han llegado a los mercados del Reino Unido y los EE.UU. Si bien en el pasado se podría decir que su música tenía mucho brillo superficial con ganchos melódicos accesibles y un amor por trabajar hacia clímax heroicos y martillantes, siempre han parecido ser un grupo con un gran potencial, pero sin darse cuenta del todo, un ejemplo de ello es su álbum de 2013 En Concierto que reveló momentos de profundidad a menudo deshechos por ofertas más ligeras y de fácil acceso.
