Samarabalouf est un groupe de swing acoustique et de jazz manouche fondé en 2000, originaire du Nord de la France. Le nom de Samarabalouf signifie «bal fou (Bal ouf) sur la Somme» (Samara étant le nom antique de la Somme, le fleuve de la région).
À l’origine du projet il y a François PETIT, qui crée un trio composé de deux guitares et d’une contrebasse. Cette formation servira de support pendant 14 années, durant lesquelles vont se succéder plusieurs musiciens à chaque poste. Seul François restera toujours au cœur du projet et pour cause, il est l’unique compositeur du groupe. Avec Pierrot MARGERIN et Luc AMBRY, ils formeront la cellule la plus aboutie de Samarabalouf jusqu’à ce jour, cellule qui a vécu toutes les aventures en France, en Europe et sur le continent américain.
Mais François PETIT rêve depuis toujours à d’autres aventures, à un Samarabalouf plus grand, avec des chanteuses échevelées ou des duos, des quatuors, des variations, des invitations d’artistes sur scène et sur les albums.
Au premier rang de tous les invités il y a Arnaud Van Lancker, l’accordéoniste qui est une sorte de grand frère. C’est avec lui que François PETIT se réalise et prend goût au style «manouche». Très vite, il s’affranchit de cet habit virtuose qu’il avoue trouver trop mince. Il enfante alors son propre style et ses compositions passent allègrement d’une petite valse à un rock de fer, toujours soulignées par des accents «manouches». Néanmoins, la liste des invités sera longue et trouve son apogée avec l’album «Bababa», enregistré et mixé en 2008 au studio de Matthieu Chedid, le «Labo M». Il s’agit d’un album peuplé de toutes ces voix venues du monde entier, avec des invités de grand talent tels que Nosfell, Lëila Bounos et les Human Beatbox, Ange B ou encore Wab.
L’énergie débordante du trio fait merveille toute cette période durant, jusqu’à ce que chacun décide de se séparer pour vivre d’autres aventures. Le compositeur est toujours là et continue à écrire de nouvelles mélodies dont quelques-unes figurent sur leur avant-dernier album «UP». Avec cet opus, François PETIT fonde une nouvelle équipe, fait appel à de nouveaux interprètes, de nouveaux instruments et réinvente un style.
Samarabalouf a donc grandi et mué. C’est désormais un trio à cordes composé de Léo Ferdinand Cornélius MATHIEU au violon et à la mandoline, de Phyllipa SCAMMELL au violoncelle et à la contrebasse et de François PETIT à la guitare.

Samarabalouf is an acoustic swing and gypsy jazz band founded in 2000, originally from the North of France. The name Samarabalouf means "crazy ball (Bal ouf) on the Somme" (Samara being the ancient name of the Somme, the river of the region).
At the origin of the project there is François PETIT, who creates a trio composed of two guitars and a double bass. This formation will serve as a support for 14 years, during which several musicians will succeed one another at each position. Only François will always remain at the heart of the project and for good reason, he is the only composer of the group. With Pierrot MARGERIN and Luc AMBRY, they will form the most accomplished cell of Samarabalouf to this day, a cell that has lived all the adventures in France, Europe and on the American continent.
But François PETIT has always dreamed of other adventures, of a bigger Samarabalouf, with dishevelled singers or duets, quartets, variations, invitations from artists on stage and on albums.
In the front row of all the guests is Arnaud Van Lancker, the accordionist who is a kind of big brother. It is with him that François PETIT realizes himself and gets a taste for the "manouche" style. Very quickly, he frees himself from this virtuoso outfit that he admits to find too thin. He then gives birth to his own style and his compositions go cheerfully from a little waltz to an iron rock, always underlined by "gypsy" accents. Nevertheless, the list of guests will be long and finds its climax with the album "Bababa", recorded and mixed in 2008 at Matthieu Chedid's studio, "Labo M". It is an album populated with all these voices from all over the world, with guests of great talent such as Nosfell, Lëila Bounos and the Human Beatbox, Ange B or Wab.
The overflowing energy of the trio is marvelous throughout this period, until each one decides to separate to live other adventures. The composer is still there and continues to write new melodies, some of which appear on their penultimate album "UP". With this opus, François PETIT founds a new team, calls upon new interpreters, new instruments and reinvents a style.
Samarabalouf has thus grown and mutated. It is now a string trio composed of Léo Ferdinand Cornélius MATHIEU on violin and mandolin, Phyllipa SCAMMELL on cello and double bass and François PETIT on guitar.

Fue con él que François PETIT cobró vida y desarrolló el gusto por el estilo "manouche". Muy rápidamente, se libera de este virtuoso traje que admite que le parece demasiado delgado. Luego dio a luz su propio estilo y sus composiciones pasaron de un pequeño vals a una roca de hierro, siempre subrayadas por acentos "gitanos". Sin embargo, la lista de invitados fue larga y alcanzó su punto álgido con el álbum "Bababa", grabado y mezclado en 2008 en el estudio de Matthieu Chedid, "Labo M". El álbum contó con las contribuciones de una gran cantidad de estrellas invitadas de gran talento, como Nosfell, Lëila Bounos y Human Beatbox, Ange B y Wab.
