Nacido en 1958 en Badalona, Pere Soto es guitarrista de jazz, compositor, arreglista, productor musical, nuevas tecnologías aplicadas a la música, de formación autodidacta y uno de los pioneros del estilo gypsy jazz de España.
En 1982 creó el grupo Django’s Castle, con quien ha estado grabando un disco por año. Ha hecho conciertos tanto por Europa como por América, ha tocado con músicos de jazz de la talla de Dave Douglas, Dave Liebman, Ben Allison y Jeff Ballard, entre otros. Su obra ha gozado del reconocimiento de RNE, que nombró su disco Coincidències (1989) mejor disco del año en Cataluña, y de la Jazz South Federation (EE.UU.), que seleccionó Metanoic (Pere Soto & Bill Gerhardt Quartet ) mejor disco del mes en 1992. Ha participado en varios festivales de renombre internacional, como el North Sea Jazz Festival (con Big John Patton), en 1999, el San Francisco DjangoFest y Los Ángeles DjangoFest. Últimamente su música de estilo gypsy ha sido elegida como principal banda sonora de la película hondureña-americana Un Lugar en el Caribe, teniendo un eco muy importante en HBO Latino, inicialmente en EEUU y en Latinoamérica, una de las cadenas de distribución más importantes del mundo.

En cuanto a su vertiente pedagógica, ha sido profesor del Taller de Músics, del Centro de Estudios Facultad Musical del Vallès (Sant Cugat del Vallès), de la Escuela Anglada de Terrassa y ha impartido clases magistrales tanto en Cataluña como en EE.UU., Holanda y México.
