En diciembre de 2003 se trasladó a Nueva York, fijando su residencia en Manhattan y comienza a introducirse en la escena del jazz tocando con Michael P. Yorker Mosmman, Dave Schnitter, Anthony Jackson y Arturo O'Farrill en clubes de jazz como Birland, Smoke, Dizzy's Jazz At Lincoln Center, etc. En febrero de 2004 firmó un contrato en Nueva York con Sunnyside Records y comenzó a trabajar, con la ayuda de Arturo O'Farrill, con la Chico O'Farrill Afro Cuban Jazz Orchestra que actúa todos los domingos en el Jazz Club Birland.
