With the success of Moe Koffman's "Swinging Shepherds Blues" in 1957, suddenly the flute became popular. Buddy Collette, who in the early '50s was one of the pioneer jazz flutists, heads this out-of-print Mercury LP which features his playing along with three other flutists (Paul Horn, Harry Klee and Bud Shank). Assisted by a fine West Coast rhythm section, Collette and his fellow flutists perform concise versions of 11 songs that were used in the movies. The repertoire ranges from standards such as "Laura," "I Can't Believe That You're in Love with Me" and "Invitation" to a few lesser-known numbers. The treatments are quite respectful but of interest to jazz listeners.

Con el éxito de "Swinging Shepherds Blues" de Moe Koffman en 1957, de repente la flauta se hizo popular. Buddy Collette, que a principios de los 50 fue uno de los flautistas pioneros del jazz, encabeza este LP descatalogado de Mercury que presenta su interpretación junto a otros tres flautistas (Paul Horn, Harry Klee y Bud Shank). Ayudados por una excelente sección rítmica de la Costa Oeste, Collette y sus compañeros flautistas interpretan versiones concisas de 11 canciones que se utilizaron en las películas. El repertorio abarca desde estándares como "Laura", "I Can't Believe That You're in Love with Me" e "Invitation" hasta algunos números menos conocidos. Los tratamientos son bastante respetuosos pero de interés para los oyentes de jazz.
