Francesco Buzzurro, Richard Smith • Un Mondo, Due Chitarre (One World, Two Guitars)

 

Since their initial meeting in 2005, jazz guitarist Richard Smith and classical guitarist Francesco Buzzurro have strived to create a presentation that combines their unique musical backgrounds into an anthology of tunes enjoyable and appreciated by the masses. Un Mondo, Due Chitarre takes its audience on a musical journey outside each respective player’s genres to explore new dimensions in the sound of two guitars. The opening piece, an original composition from Buzzurro, “Paisaje” sets the tone as the music weaves through arrangements of Chick Corea’s “Spain”, Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely”, Herbie Hancock’s “Cantaloupe Island” and ends in a finale of The Who's “Pinball Wizard”. On the surface, the two seem like an unlikely pair. If you delve further, within each musician, there is a very deep love for not only the guitar, but for the music. Smith is an American born guitarist, best known for his numerous chart topping hits and achievements. He also chaired the first ever Studio/Jazz department of its kind at the University of Southern California. He now teaches in USC’s Popular Music Program. Buzzurro is considered a top virtuoso of classical and multi-cultural guitar in Europe, while Smith is an award winning studio guitarist, recording artist and Professor at The USC Thornton School of Music.

Desde su encuentro inicial en 2005, el guitarrista de jazz Richard Smith y el guitarrista clásico Francesco Buzzurro se han esforzado por crear una presentación que combina sus antecedentes musicales únicos en una antología de melodías agradables y apreciadas por las masas. Un Mondo, Due Chitarre lleva a su público a un viaje musical fuera de los géneros de cada uno de los intérpretes para explorar nuevas dimensiones en el sonido de dos guitarras. La pieza inicial, una composición original de Buzzurro, "Paisaje" establece el tono mientras la música se entrelaza a través de los arreglos de "Spain" de Chick Corea, "Isn't She Lovely" de Stevie Wonder, "Cantaloupe Island" de Herbie Hancock y termina en un final de "The Who's Pinball Wizard". En la superficie, los dos parecen una pareja poco probable. Si se profundiza más, dentro de cada músico, hay un amor muy profundo no sólo por la guitarra, sino por la música. Smith es un guitarrista nacido en América, mejor conocido por sus numerosos éxitos y logros en las listas de éxitos. También presidió el primer departamento de Estudio/Jazz de su clase en la Universidad del Sur de California. Ahora enseña en el Programa de Música Popular de la USC. Buzzurro es considerado un virtuoso de la guitarra clásica y multicultural en Europa, mientras que Smith es un galardonado guitarrista de estudio, artista de grabación y profesor en la Escuela de Música de Thornton de la USC.
