Muriel Roberts pianist who played around New York for decades. Today, it’s challenging to find much information about her at all; it seems like she put out at least two albums, a Flower Drum Song tribute (as did what seems like 90% of working artists of the age) in 1960, and an album called Music for All Times & Seasons in 1965. Per an obituary, she was born in Bayonne, N.J. in 1929, went to NYU, and died in 2014.
According to the liner notes for the latter album, though, her performances at The Composer made quite an impression. “I first heard and enjoyed Muriel Roberts in 1957 at The Composer in New York City, one of the finest music rooms this city ever had, and this city had some good ones,” wrote Mort Fega, a longtime New York jazz D.J.
