The New Jazz Group, Vic Ash Quartet, Tubby Hayes & His Orchestra • Modern Jazz Scene

 

The occasion was the National Jazz Federation's annual concert presentation "The Jazz Scene". The place was London's luxury Royal Festival Hall, built in 1951 and blessed with some of the finest acoustics. The bands participating were the new Ronnie Scott Orchestra with Tony Crombie (their section has an LP to itself on another label) and, exclusive to Tempo recording artists, the Tubby Hayes Orchestra, poll-winning clarinettist Vic Ash's Quartet, and the recently formed co-operative unit, the four-piece New Jazz Group.

La ocasión era la presentación del concierto anual de la Federación Nacional de Jazz "The Jazz Scene". El lugar era el lujoso Royal Festival Hall de Londres, construido en 1951 y dotado de una de las mejores acústicas. Los grupos participantes eran la nueva Orquesta de Ronnie Scott con Tony Crombie (su sección tiene un LP para ella sola en otro sello) y, en exclusiva para los artistas de grabaciones Tempo, la Orquesta de Tubby Hayes, el cuarteto del clarinetista Vic Ash, ganador de una encuesta, y la unidad cooperativa recientemente formada, el New Jazz Group de cuatro miembros.
