Arthur Smith (1 de abril de 1921 - 3 de abril de 2014) fue un músico y compositor estadounidense.

Nacido en Clinton, Carolina del Sur, Arthur Smith era un trabajador de una fábrica textil que se convirtió en un compositor de música country célebre y respetado instrumentalista, guitarrista, violinista, y el entonador del banjo que tuvo un gran éxito con el instrumental "Guitar Boogie". La canción le valió el apodo de Arthur "Guitar Boogie" Smith (para diferenciarlo del violinista de Tennessee y estrella de 1930 en Grand Ole Opry, Fiddlin' Arthur Smith) y fue grabado por muchos otros, incluyendo a Tommy Emmanuel. Renombrado "Guitar Boogie Shuffle", se convirtió en el hit de rock and roll por Frank Virtue y los Virtues. Virtue sirvió en la Marina con Smith y cuenta como su gran influencia. Arthur Smith (April 1, 1921 – April 3, 2014) was an American musician, songwriter, and producer of records, as well as a radio and TV host. Smith produced radio and TV shows; The Arthur Smith Show was the first nationally syndicated country music show on television.[1] After moving to Charlotte, North Carolina, Smith developed and ran the first commercial recording studio in the Southeast.

Born in Clinton, South Carolina, Arthur Smith was a textile mill worker who became a celebrated and respected country music instrumental composer, guitarist, fiddler, and banjo player. His major hit was the instrumental "Guitar Boogie," which he wrote and recorded in 1945. It sold over three million copies, and was awarded a gold disc by the RIAA.[2] The song earned him the moniker Arthur "Guitar Boogie" Smith (to differentiate him from Tennessee fiddler and 1930s Grand Ole Opry star Fiddlin' Arthur Smith). It was recorded by numerous other musicians, including Tommy Emmanuel, and became known around the world.
