Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine
A
collection of highlights from the group's 40th Anniversary tour, a
shindig that happened in America and Europe throughout 2019 as they
supported their reunion album 40, Rocked This Town: From LA to London
showcases a bunch of old cats who still get a kick from playing the old
tunes in an old-fashioned way. Save for a little wear and tear on Brian
Setzer's voice -- when the album kicks off with "Cat Fight (Over a Dog
Like Me)," he's operating at a gravelly rumble -- the Stray Cats don't
precisely sound as if they're middle-aged men, save for their taste for
rock & roll made the year of their birth. Whether they're playing
their old hits, some covers ("Cannonball Rag," "Misirlou," which comes
with a shoutout to the then-recently passed Dick Dale) or new tunes, the
trio not only sound spry and engaged, but like they never took an
extended hiatus.

Cat Fight( Over a Dog Like Me)", está operando a un estruendo grave the
