Review
by Scott Yanow
This was one of Tom Scott's strongest albums of his career. Although there are commercial elements to the music, Scott is heard throughout in prime form, and several of the numbers are quite memorable. Scott roars on tenor during his catchy "Lookin' Out for Number Seven," and plays lyrical flute on Joni Mitchell's "Woodstock," and digs into John Coltrane's "Dahomey Dance." Among the notable sidemen are guitarist Howard Roberts, keyboardist Mike Wofford and guitarist Larry Carlton. On this album (which unfortunately is long out of print), Tom Scott for once perfectly balances the artistic and commercial aspects of his music and comes out with a near-classic offering.
