It is a mid-winter's day, 1954. The French publication, Jazz Hot", comes out with the French jazz poll results: Jimmy Raney has just been voted "Number One Guitarist". That same evening, the Jazz Club U.S.A. tour plays a one-night stand in Paris. One of the featured groups is the Red Norvo Trio. Featured with the trio was Jimmy Raney. Some weeks later this LP was cut with Bobby Jaspar, Maurice Vandair, Jean-Marie Ingrand and Jean Louis Viale. These Paris recordings gave the American audiences an opportunity to hear not only more of Raney's fine style and sound, articulated as always with brilliance and taste, but also something of what was going on in jazz across the ocean.

Es un día de pleno invierno de 1954. La publicación francesa "Jazz Hot" publica los resultados de la encuesta sobre el jazz en Francia: Jimmy Raney acaba de ser elegido "Guitarrista número uno". Esa misma noche, la gira del Jazz Club U.S.A. hace una parada de una noche en París. Uno de los grupos participantes es el Red Norvo Trio. Con el trío aparece Jimmy Raney. Unas semanas más tarde se grabó este LP con Bobby Jaspar, Maurice Vandair, Jean-Marie Ingrand y Jean Louis Viale. Estas grabaciones de París dieron al público estadounidense la oportunidad de escuchar no sólo el buen estilo y sonido de Raney, articulado como siempre con brillantez y gusto, sino también algo de lo que estaba ocurriendo en el jazz al otro lado del océano.
