Electric Swan is a Italian retro hard rock band, which was created by guitarist Lucio Calegari of the band Wicked Minds. Based on samples, Wicked Minds has a more psychedelic sound, so my guess is that Lucio wanted to explore a hard rock sound apart from the band, thus the creation of Electric Swan. Joining Lucio are Paolo "Apollo" Negri (Hammond and synths), Ricky Lovotti ( drums), Enrico "Deep" Garilli & Edoardo Giovanelli (bass) and vocals by Sophya Baccini (Presence) and Luca "Mitch" Rancati (Tough).
The band is very similar sounding to classic bands like Deep Purple, Jefferson Airplane, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath as well as newer bands like Bigelf, Black Bonzo and Wolfmother to name a few. There’s 11 tracks on this self titled debut including 3 cover songs, which are “Your Love Has Been Good To Me” (Ruth Copeland), “Teaser” (Tommy Bolin) and an interesting version of Metallica’s " Creeping Death". Electric Swan‘s version of “Creeping Death” it’s structurally the same but not as tight as the original., As for the other two cover songs, I can’t comment on whether or not they’re faithful to their originals.
Electric Swan proves to be a wonderful band that musically harkens back to the golden age of hard rock with modern technology. One might even think this is a band from 1972, which with the exception of the Metallica cover would be a fair assessment. The band’s self titled is very recommended to fans of the aforementioned bands as well as the harder edged progressive rock.

Electric Swan es una banda italiana de hard rock retro, que fue creada por el guitarrista Lucio Calegari de la banda Wicked Minds. Basándome en las muestras, Wicked Minds tiene un sonido más psicodélico, así que mi opinión es que Lucio quería explorar un sonido de hard rock aparte de la banda, y de ahí la creación de Electric Swan. Junto a Lucio están Paolo "Apollo" Negri (Hammond y sintetizadores), Ricky Lovotti ( batería), Enrico "Deep" Garilli & Edoardo Giovanelli (bajo) y las voces de Sophya Baccini (Presence) y Luca "Mitch" Rancati (Tough).
La banda tiene un sonido muy similar a bandas clásicas como Deep Purple, Jefferson Airplane, Led Zeppelin y Black Sabbath, así como a bandas más recientes como Bigelf, Black Bonzo y Wolfmother, por nombrar algunas. Hay 11 temas en este debut autotitulado, incluyendo 3 versiones, que son "Your Love Has Been Good To Me" (Ruth Copeland), "Teaser" (Tommy Bolin) y una interesante versión de "Creeping Death" de Metallica. La versión de Electric Swan de "Creeping Death" es estructuralmente la misma pero no tan ajustada como la original, En cuanto a las otras dos versiones, no puedo comentar si son fieles o no a sus originales.
Electric Swan demuestra ser una banda maravillosa que musicalmente se remonta a la edad de oro del hard rock con la tecnología moderna. Uno podría incluso pensar que se trata de una banda de 1972, lo cual, con la excepción de la portada de Metallica, sería una valoración justa. El autotitulado de la banda es muy recomendable para los fans de las bandas antes mencionadas, así como el rock progresivo de bordes más duros.
