Clarinettist and tenor saxophonist, Dunstan Coulber first came to the attention of the general public when he won the Perrier Young Jazz Musician of the Year Award in April 2000. Dunstan formed The Dunstan Coulber Quartet early in 1999 with a clear idea of the music he wanted to be playing. Firmly rooted in the swinging mainstream jazz tradition, the Quartet have pursued Dunstan's aim of bringing a fresh, up to date interpretation to the classics of the great American song book and out-of-the-way standards.
'..Lively swing-oriented clarinettist .. Classy young performer' (John Fordham, The Guardian)
'I'm very impressed .. Sparse melodic playing' (Humphrey Lyttelton)
'Let's hear it for the talented Mr Coulber .. The next King of Swing?' (Jack Massarik, Evening Standard)
'.. Their music is refreshingly original and of a very high quality' (Just Jazz Magazine)
